Player Movements

All gossip re. player movements (Tas. club to Tas. club) on here please. But keep it believable. :-)

  1. I have it on good authority that Henry Fagg will be rejoining Zebras for 2007 after a season with Brunswick City (Vic. Div.1). But Zebras will be feeling doubly pleased because Brett Pullen will also be rejoining. A case of back to the future for the stripes perhaps!!

    Now, with the return of Pullen, the next BIG question will be…will he be captain/player coach too??

    but the question is will he turn up to more training sessions being the coach or will he turn up as much as he did when he was playing???

    I did hear that a lot of Pullen’s time was committed to Police work.

    I’m sure you meant to add a :-) at the end of your comment.

  4. im not having a go at the guy
    im just saying he coud have made time when he was first playing with zebras

    police officers can make the time to train

    i played on the same team as a couple of police officers and they always seemed to be at training

    i guess its down to commitment

Hey everyone..From my point of view, Brett Pullen has commitment, 2005 he played for Launceston City, was hit by a few injuries preventing him from the statewide cup final and state final and also police officing duties prevented him from more appearances for City. But i’d say he’s got the commitment when his job allows it…

  6. To respond to the comment (Joeyand Blackjack)….. As the last premiership Coach of the zebras I can proudly say that Brett Pullen was very inportant part of the team which not only won the premiership but won Best player of the year. He did miss a couple training (for work and family reasons,) Brett is a very proud father of 3 lovelly children.
    Each time he was at training and games he did gave 100% for the team. You can ask any of the players at the zebras
    I can just remind you all that the Zebras won the Premiership because we had a fantastic group of 16 leaders when week after week all did turned up to training and worked very hard and went through underfeated to eventually win the title.
    And regards to the captain of the club, why would you take it away from Symmo when he is doing a good job.

  7. Firstly what a great idea and top site.. Secondly thank you Franco and Northerner for the support.
    It’s like a big school play ground the soccer scene and arn’t rumours a great time waster!!! - what can I say it’s nice to be talked about “sometimes”
    And no Joey I’m not going to argue what you said, we all have opinions and we should all be aloud to express them, all I will say is that I will be playing next year and look forward to playing whichever team you support or play with(if you disclose that).

  9. Being closer than most to Zebras and Brett over the recent years in Soccer, I would like to add the following to the argument regarding Brett’s commitment and his place in recent Zebra’s football history.
    2004 was Brett’s last full year of playing at the highest level in Tas, and his achievements were:
    Club Captain, member Premier League Champions 2004, runner up in club goal scorers, players player of year and best and fairest, not bad for one who supposedly can only give some 25% of his potential weekly afterhours time to Football - Oh! and I almost Brett also won the 2004 Vic Tuting Medal (for the third time!). Not bad for someone without commitment ? Thank God he can’t give a full 100% - what else could he achieve?
    To all the critics - be like me and just be pleased that Brett’s presence in Zebras 2007 team, will surely add to the pleasure we all get from watching quality players go around. Something that the game may have lacked in recent seasons ?

  10. righto. Fistly I shouldn’t have told my father about this site, I have three of my own and that’s enough said. Clarify 2004, Simo was the captain and Tex won the clubs best and fairest, but besides that you were close father. I actually played six or so games in 2005 with launceston City and I’d like to think helped them win the title that year(always nice to beat devenport). Also as i stated earlier I dont mind critism actually I enjoy it all people are entitled their opinions.

  11. Alan, there are plenty of good quality players getting around, especially some of the youngsters. Beecroft, Roach, Sanita, Walsh all polled extremely well in the Vic Tuting as did Laird & Huigisloot from Knights & White (Kingborough) & Rapley (Uni). In fact Roach has just won that award for the second year in a row and he’s still U20.

    Maybe you aren’t at the right games. :-)

  12. Henry Fagg will be playing for the Zebras as he played in the tournament held at Cosgrove High School on the 25th of November. Nick Lapolla chose and was incharge of a team of 14 aged between 16-24 to compete so i’d say he has the senior job wrapped up. Zebras fielded practically their 19’s team with Ricky Self, Daniel Lapolla and Henry Fagg the exceptions. They lost in penalties to Hobart Olympic who looked to have an almost full strength senior side. Zebras looking promising.

  13. Zebras should definetely improve after finishing 7th, especially with return of Brett and possibly Aaron Brazendale from season start. Struggle to see Fagg making a big impact, definetely not to extent of the other two. Seems he will just be an average player at senior level and not one that will dominate games.
    Zebras conceded goals galore last season,way more than the rest minus Metro and Hobart Utd, if they can shore up their backline then they could be the big movers.
    Most clubs have promising youngsters, most of the promising kids at that age are already playing senior soccer and not under 19seg Gorene Jozelic, Marchioli,Pitchford, Kaden etc. Zebras seem to have quite a few at reserve level but not many at all in the senior team, going by last year that is.
    Having said that, look out for Dan Djekanovic and Jamie Walker at Olympic in Premier league 2007, dominated the 19s league in 06.

  14. Sanita is rumoured to be remaining in Tasmania for another season. Needless to say this made the likes of Knights, Zebras & Clarence sit up and take notice. It seems though that Sanita may very well have signed for Sunshine Georgies but been loaned back to Kingborough. So save the phone call Eamon, Browny, Nick & Co.!!

    Ladic (Knights) has signed and will play for Georgies in 2007 while Nathan Pitchford is also believed to have trialed with Georgies. The result of this trial is unknown. Someone might like to drop me a line.

Rumour has it that josh heerey, has returned from melbourne after 2 or so years plying his trade with brunswick city and is looking for a club, hobart zebras however are considering signing the 21 yr old as a guest player for the season as he still has study commitments in melbourne, he reportedly will play alongside brett pullen in a midfield that will rival any in the comp!

  17. Tonight at 6.30pm the Glenorchy Knights will be playing a practice match against new-commers to the league, Taroona FC. The Glenorchy Knights will be a rude awakenning to the under-staffed Taroona who will soon realise the different in quality between Division One and the Premier League. Returned signing for the Knights Jonothan Ladic will be organising the Knights outfit from the center of the park, with the electrifying pace on the flanks of Jade Clay and Shay Hickey. New Knights signing Nick Harrisson will be asserting his gargantuon frame up front, and is a certainty 2 open his scoring account for the reigning premiers.

  18. What’s the deal with Dale Itchins having a secret meeting at Hobart Airport with former supremos David Smith and Neil Connell ?

    I just happenened to be flying back from interstate and look what i find !!

    Could this be the making of the new directors of the TIS program ?
    Could this be the making of the interest in the V league??

    Mmmmmm I wonder ?
