TIS (Football) Coaching Appointments
TIS & FFT advertised for a full time male & female coaching position for the newly formed football side of the TIS back in October (don’t quote me on the date) but now, three months later, no appointment has been made. Just before Christmas FFT stated that an announcement was immenent but nothing has been forthcoming.
Blackjack has been advised that FFT will be forced to readvertise as interviews undercovered no suitable applicant for the mens’ teams at least. A coach for the women is an unknown quantity.
At the same time, it is believed David Abela has applied for a position in his home state of Queensland.
BlackJack,
it was interesting to read the requirements for winning the position. It was the highest level coaching course (possibly a UEFA PRO licence!) and a fairly modest pay packet, no doubt a few people applied from around the traps, but it is difficult to see what this person or people are actually going to do every day to fill in their time. A great idea and needed to develop the pathways that we all talk about, but what is that pathway? Still we have no idea.

News is filtering through that FFT & TIS will be forced to readvertise for the these positions as no suitable applicant has been found.
But further to this news is that FFA is balking at financing the female coach on an equal basis. The fall back position that may eventuate is that one position could be advertise that will cover both male and female athletes with two part time assistants. Presumably each of the assistant positions will be gender specific.
But wait, there’s more…
It seems that the referee’s coordinator position advertised late last year has also failed to be filled as it too was demanding a standard that could no be achieved here in Tasmania.
