Summer Cup (Premier & Reserves)
Premier League Summer Cup groups are as follows;
Group A
Glenorchy Knights
Clarence
Kingborough Lions
Hobart Olympic
New Town Eagles
Group B
University
South Hobart
Metro
Taroona
Hobart Zebras
So which group would you prefer to belong to?
Who will be the semi finalists?
Finalists?
Winner?
Last chance to stake your claims or for bragging rights.
the underdog will come through and win group B being the all mighty Taroona, which is good as this means the boys can have a smile after the game since they’ve been told no win no smile, any glimpses of a smile and they’ll cop a boot up there ass from the coach. The winner from group A will be decided in the last game of the round between kingborough and olympic, in extra time a trade mark “Kappa” clearance from deep into olympics 18 yard box will find itself in the unlikely place of the back of the net. Which will leave the high flying “BOROUGH” to move through to the next stage. In the final it will stay 0-0 till tim timbos aka duncan carey will make his presense felt with a lightening strike from 25 yards which will beat the keeper and win the game for the good old taroona lads.

ben horsley (new signing) will pull knights through a tough group, south could only lose their group zebras. unless of course the summer cup turns out to be a cross country-no water allowed event in which case taroona’s pre-season will surely put them in pole position

Group A has no easybeats, whereas Group B has Metro and Taroona, who aren’t necessarily easybeats, but probably will not win many games (look at Hobart Utd last year, will be pretty similar to Taroona.)
I expect that Uni and South Hobart will make the most of their easier group and come through to the semis in B, and in A, Glenorchy and Kingborough or Clarence will go through.

Well I think it is fair to say that group A is the harder of the two. Is there semi finals this year?. Last year it was just the top from each group! Does anyone know? The question is does Soccer Tas know. ‘Glass Bottom Boat’ you are kidding yourself if you think Taroona can win the summer cup. they arent ready yet, they have a some good youing players, but I dont think they realise the step up from Div 1 football. South Hobart To win their group and Knights to win theirs.

for someone who knows everything you obviously dont know much if you cant see that Glass Bottom Boat was joking, also from your other posts the same conclusion can be found. South in the final, knights dont have great record in summer cup, even when sanders was playing so……. all the other teams except eagles, metro and taroona could get through, clarence will struggle also. thats my guess

take it easy guys, keep the comments relevant to the topic. I rekon South Hobart will be the team for 07 and Knights will ahve a year to forget. Kingborough from Group A and South or Zebars from Group B. It will be a memorable Summer Cup

knights will win again this year same squad as last year plus a couple of handy pick ups

Summer cup is always an interesting and entertaining competition if a little distorted. 30 minute halves and so early in the season means that results do not generally show teams at their best or allows those who have worked hard in the summer to be a bit ahead of the rest. Group A is the harder of the 2 purely because of the experience of the 5 teams. Not to say there are going to be any easy games, metro, taroona and uni will all fight hard and you still have to score the goals to win the game. South from group B and Clarence from Group A. Just to be a little different.

South will be the winner from group B with only really Uni (if fit) and zebra’s as tricky opponents. Group A is a harder group and the Knights will be winner of that group if switched on from the fist whsitle. they can take a few games to find there straps, and when they do, they are very hard to beat. Kingborogh will be interesting to see how they go and will sanita line up. He’s there key. Oh and who the knights new signing Ben horsley? were’s he from?

Yeah i heard that too! Metro have been quietly brewing a cracker of a team out there in the northern suburbs. Picked up a handy couple of players from the knights and even some mainlanders… Could prove tricky opp!

Just to put all rumours about Corey Smith going to Metro to bed….
“pretty sure that we wouldn’t go there again”…….. Maturaty is the issue. I wouldn’t be surprised if Corey is actually starting these rumours???
