Don't know if anyone else saw the expose done by sbs the other afternoon on Sydney Olympic and the role that these ex-nsl clubs have in the new era of ffa. Interesting stuff and the view was, by SO, at least was that they were now in the business of producing players for the A-League, as none of A-league clubs actually have any kind of development of their own yet. Melbourne Knights are a great team with a lot of tradition and silverware to match. Good on the Knights for bringing them over to play, not my cup of tea to go and play with the Knights (if it was I would be there) but a great initiative. As one of the few players who played against South Melbourne when they came down who is still playing, it was a bloody tough game and I touched the ball very few times...

Honestly... Who are the Melbourne Knights now? They play Premier in Victoria. Who are you going to impress? that you already couldn't. As a player i think it is great that they are coming down to play, but honestly why would you risk an injury if you were from another club... Plus if you come from another club and you think you are going to impress, think again!!! It takes time to work yourself into the knights team and to learn how to play with them...
I do think it is a great thing for the Knights though and wish them the best of luck.

Who's is you players blackjack? Kinbourough peharps..... I agree with you about injury's etc, but it would be up to the individual to make that decision to play, we are all almost grown men here. maybe they'd like a chance to impress without going over to melb itself. The celebartion is for the knights 50th year in soccer, and good on them if they want to share thier efforts i say.

Eamonn I'm not sure I get your drift. Are you suggesting there is a connection between the desire to play in this 'celebration' match and the possibility of entering a team in the V-League? Surely not?

Frankly, I'm not the least bit surprised you have had no response from the clubs about their players playing in the Knight's celebration match. If I was a club coach and my star player went off to play in some match that meant nothing to him and/or his club, and then picked up a season ending injury, or even a knock that put him out for 2-3 weeks, I'd be ropeable. I would even go as far as to suggest if one of my players went off to play for Knights in this match I'd have him in the reserves so quick his head would spin.

It's great that this means something to the Knights lads and the Croatian community and I'm sure everyone wishes Glenorchy Knights F.C. all the best for their 50th Anninversary but it's something you guys have to celebrate 'in house' not turn in into some pseudo representative match.
