can i say that as a committe member for a senior club for a long time and being the registration officer i often found myself having to justify to senior players who thought they were to good to pay us and that we should be paying them to play for us.
In actual fact when you see what most clubs are charging then we are not even covering the basic costs to field our players
( stips, shorts, socks, ground hire, ref fees this list goes on and on are all covered by the CLUB) and we rely solely on sponsorship and fundraising all season to keep afloat.
I know my club charged players at thier age and not at where they are playing so if you are 16 and play seniors you only pay rego at the u16 rate.
I have a daughter inlaw that plays hockey she has to pay $350,buy her strip from the club her stick etc so all you people out there winging about how expensive the rego fees are to play soccer then i think you should all have a look at other sports fees and I think you will find that to play the world game here in tassie is extremely well priced so stop moaning and pay your bloody fees or go home and sit in front on the tv and get fat.

SJ it is my understanding that a full breakdown of charges for rego can be requested , in fact it even maybe on the club registration form .
It has been put in place to stop non existant fees being charged by clubs and have requested that State bodies police ..
Still players make decisions who they sign for not state bodies , if the fees printed by Blackjack are correct , then players have the avenue to ask clubs for a breakdown of fees.

Having said that i think that in todays world 200-300 per year based on a 40 week training playing period - hopefully 20 games plus equates 5-6 dollars a week .As my old coach would say pie and a coke at KGV .

Depends on what you get for your $ really? If you are training and playing at really good venues, you're playing in nice new strips and tracksuits, the club is providing social events etc you shouldnt mind paying the money. As an adult male (a student) $210 seems like a bargain. When you put it into perspective you can't even have 2 pints a weekend for the whole season for that amount.

Look at Hockey Rego's. A hockey player couldnt even pick his nose at the hockey send for a 210 bucks...

SJ, in speaking to FFA , it has to be approved by FFT , they can demand clubs to to justify the fees set , if they so desire .

Billy - my understanding is that clubs can charge whatever they like PROVIDING they disclose the make up of the fees.

I may be wrong but i thought that as part of the new rules and regulations that FFA set the state body FFT has to sign off on a club fees in their jurisdiction , this is to stop clubs overcharging , so that "shonky" fees set by clubs are not allowed ans a more realistic fee is set .

Well Done SJ. Being involved in a big club with so many players ( many of them youth players playing senior football) it is difficult. KLUSC make youth players pay youth rego no matter what level they play. But if you do not have that luxury then you play rego to the level that you play not your age. The costs for a senior team is far greater than the rego that the clubs get in from the players. The hardest done players are senior men who play lower leagues and regularly get no ref or linespeople. They are the ones who support other teams, not by choice but unfortunately by circumstance.
