Unless things have changed since I was involved (and I doubt that SoccerTas/FFT can actually manage to do that) the home club 'phones the results in - to someone who then does something with them. Not all clubs abide by the rules - that's why there are (regularly) huge gaps in scores available within an hour of the end of the game. I presume that clubs that don't do the right thing are fined?

Why on earth don't all clubs have a direct internet link to the FFT? Simple bit of software, upload details as soon as it is cleared with the ref. and so on and straight into the FFT website? Really simple - grade 6 at the local school do it!

I'm just guessing that Walter has to rely on a very different link - those involved at clubs that share his desire to push the game to the public better than do the FFT. It would be interesting to know how much of the FFT's salary goes to Mr. Pless! Until things change dramatically at FFT I'll keep reading this, and Walter's, sites for information.

But Blackjack, results ARE available on the Electronic system. At the very very least there is the scoreline, and more often than not, 1 team's goalscorer for the game played.
If Walter had access to this he'd be laughing, much easier to find out results using the Electronic system than the FFT normal site.

Blackjack. The full results and scorers were entered on the electronic FFT system. Whats happened is that a batch file drags these over to the main files which are the ones the public sees. Any inconsistancies are simply lost in the transfer. The FFT supposedly cross checks the discrepancies with the official refs reports on Mondays and amends accordingly which, to be fair, has happened in previous seasons. I note that round two's data has been updated 19/4 at 07:23 and the ladders are now correct.

redandblack..."Results of some description"?? Ahhhh, FFT haven't got the complete details (scorers, scores) up for the first round three weeks ago. Why would you rely on the electronic system?? Do I need to say more??

Why doesn't Walter have access to the Electronic system? More often that not, results of some description are entered in there by the end of the weekend/or even the day of play.

However, this does not substitute for people actually notifying Walter himself.

Walter is 100% spot on in his comments here and on his own site. I run a site which provides results, fixtures and tables from over 50 leagues in Australia plus cup competitions and most Federations and clubs are very helpfull and co-operative in providing information with one big exception and that is Tasmania. Extracting even a result is sometimes very difficult (I have a good collection of hens teeth - extracting those was easier) and the blame for not keeping the fans and clubs informed must lie squarely on the shoulders of the FFT. Most Federations require accurate reporting of results, half times and scorers within 30-60 minutes of the game finishing and some will punish errant clubs. The FFT rules state that 30 mins from the end of the game the score and half time should be supplied to the FFT and by 11.00 am Mondays full results sheets should be supplied. There is a hefty fine for non compliance - $50. Need I say more.
