2007 PFA Team of the Year
Van der Sar
G. Neville Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Ronaldo Scholes Gerrard Giggs
Drogba Berbatov
This is the PFA English Premier League team of the year. Do you agree with the selections? If not, who would you substitute. While you’re there, select a team captain (for interests sake)
Was this team picked by the mad scotsman Ferguson !! sure i agree with Ronaldo and giggs from united but the rest of the united players just wishful thinking.
My thoughts in same 4-4-2 set up
Keeper - Foster - Watford
Right Back - Chirmonda - Spurs
Centre half - Terry - Chelsea
Centre Half - Carragher - Liverpool
Left Back - Taylor - Portsmouth
Right mid - Ronaldo - United
Centre Mid - Fabregas - Arsend
Centre Mid - Gerard - Pool
Left mid - Giggs - United
Striker - Bebatov - spurs
Striker - Drogba - Chelsea
Subs
Keeper - Carson - Charlton
Defender - Ferdinand - United
Midfield - Pederson - Blackburn
Striker - Martins - Newcastle

Picked by someone sucking up to the man scotsman certainly. Arsend? where are they based? must be coached by an ****hole one would imagine!!! oh dear, I’m in trouble now….
Comment by Lionheart — April 25, 2007 @ 9:58 am
Well this team wouldn’t be coached by three to four persons unlike your team !! -:) , it would be one strong minded individual maybe a Sam Alladyce - Jose - or psycho. lol
You would probably prefere the lover of EPL Craig Foster - now their is an ****hole !!

That’s it, where’s that muzzle??
Comment by Blackjack — April 25, 2007 @ 11:06 am
Mr oncesacked coach, our guys are so good they need a few coaches. Simply a team looking after teams.
Sam Alladyce or Jose?? That’s a ‘funny farm’ not a coaching team. One flaps his gob because of the gum and the other one just flaps (his mouth, arms, eyes, everything).
You don’t like Mr Foster then??
Comment by Lionheart — April 25, 2007 @ 1:04 pm
Lionheart , thanks for the insight re your coaching structure , i always thought you had 3-4 coaches because you guys needed a committee to make a decision …lol
Foster was so down on the English game - when he got his twenty odd games at palace in Div 2 i think - he drove his own car to away games - to good for the rest of the team ???
Jose is a true tactition -a super coach for taking the presure off players and putting it onto other managers / teams and has got results !!! look at his resume no committee decisions their.
Sam is a big blob - who speaks and works with his heart on his sleeve and hqas been very successful at a club that is very low key - if bolton lost him you would see the same as what happened to Charlton when curbishly left. - a players manager.

he only played half a season.
BUT PETR CECH MAN. come on?
Comment by chalky — April 25, 2007 @ 1:53 pm
nice one blackjack!!! that is an ordinary midfield. Mainly scholes! you could subsitute him for anyone! he is very ordinary! Mikel Arteta aint perfect (and I may be a little bias) but even arteta has shown more potential then scholes! Hopeless in the midfield! Play him up front if anywhere. tooo old toooooo old! Van der sar in goal??? Ahhh I have had a few pints and know van der sar is poo. Foster, Howard and Filan have all had a pearler in goal…. seriously… van der sar its like knitting for the man. How did you omit terry. injury riddled but still very prime!!!
Comment by 1878 — April 25, 2007 @ 1:56 pm
sorry just realised one sacked coach but carragher in at defence! I don’t want to be sarcastic or nasty bu carragher is ordinary…. couldnrt hold up a cup and saucer
Comment by 1878 — April 25, 2007 @ 1:59 pm
Are you serious 1878 (I think we’ll change your name to 1278 because you are so far behind the times!!! LOL). Carragher is one of the best defenders in England AND he plays for Liverpool. The man is the next best thing to God (not Fowler) and closing fast.
And Filan?? He’s only played a handful of games this season - not even close to consideration. Howard has done well at times but Chec is my pick, and I detest Chelsea.
Comment by Lionheart — April 25, 2007 @ 2:46 pm
1878 very good at giving thoughts provide a team and we can judge your mindset also !! not sure of your age but my granny is the only one with cup and saucer so that probably explains your non liking of Carragher ..lol

Ahhh Lionheart… a liverpool fan? I am sorry. Do you detest Chelski enough to spell Chec/Cech wrong? Cech also was out for half the season remember.
My mindset was pretty different at the time of posting One Sacked Coach if you get my drift. So are you going to liken Carragher to a Bobby Moore perhaps? He isn’t the best defender in England at the moment. Neville is playing well, Terry is playing well, ferdinand is good. They are big names and vintage but they are incredible. Here is my team then…. (mostly a few amendments to onesacked coach/bj’s side)
Keeper - Foster - Watford (easily the best keeper this season showed with national team selection)
Right Back - G. Neville - Man Utd
Centre half - Terry - Chelsea
Centre Half - Ferdinand - Man Utd
Left Back - Evra - Man Utd (hard spot…. Barry - Aston Villa or even Taylor as mentioned, a bit more pace and consistency)
Right mid - Ronaldo - United
Centre Mid - Carrick - Man Utd
Centre Mid - Gerrard - Scum FC
Left mid - Giggs - United
Striker - Johnson - Everton (token player)
Striker - Drogba - Chelsea
It very much looks as if I have taken the easy way here picking half a man u squad, but they are looking so good at the moment, through the back and midfield. I was trying to find somewhere to put Aaron Lennon. I tried to look outside of the two squads named, but i think between the two the best players are named.

I was thinking about Lampard but he is too inconsistent and a bit a lazy (Fat Frank). When he is on he is on but doesn’t step up say like Gerrard. Have also been impressed with riise
Comment by 1878 — April 25, 2007 @ 8:35 pm
Sorry another post…. I missed out a skipper! I think it’d be an obvious choice to place Stevie Gerrard as Captain. I would like to hear some differing responses though.

1878…no need apologise or feel sorry. Liverpool have the runs on the board.

Comment by Lionheart — April 25, 2007 @ 9:23 pm
I suppose we can’t argue with the figures can we? Liverpool enjoyed their success through the 70s and 80s so really It just makes them another glamour club…. Man Utd, Real Madrid, Chelsea. Cross the park and see a real football club;)
Comment by 1878 — April 25, 2007 @ 10:07 pm
Pfft Frank Lampard not stepping up? Clearly you haven’t been following him very well. He changes games. This is the only season he has played ‘mildly’ inconsistently, and he has still had a great year.
My Team
Keeper - Cech - Chelsea
Right Back - Ricardo Carvalho - Chelsea
Centre half - Terry - Chelsea
Centre Half - Ferdinand - Man Utd
Left Back - Barry - Aston Villa (plays left mid usually? i’ve got him here coz i didnt want to leave him out, couldnt rob giggs.)
Right mid - Ronaldo - United
Centre Mid - Lampard - Man Utd
Centre Mid - Gerrard - Liverpool
Left mid - Giggs - United
Striker - Rooney - United
Striker - Drogba - Chelsea
Comment by chalky — April 25, 2007 @ 10:50 pm
lol foster….. anyone see him last week?? very average!!
rooney in for berbatov, louis saha in for drogba and carrick in for gerrard and you have a perfect team!!! not biased at all!!
Comment by corey smith — April 26, 2007 @ 2:37 pm
na my team would be-
Van Der Sar (Ceh the best in the world but only half a season)
Evra
Ferdinand
Carvalho
Neville (Not normally a fan but been good this year)
Ronaldo
Scholes (Makes united tick)
Gerrard
Giggs
Drogba
Berbatov
Van Persie unlucky to get injured!!
Comment by corey smith — April 26, 2007 @ 2:47 pm
correct me if i’m wrong chalky, but last time i checked, lampard wasn’t wearing a Man. U top. All valid teams, as all great players….I’d have Rooney up front though, although he didn’t impress early in the year, he’s been making up for it hitting some nice form in the last 10 or so games!
Comment by Predator — April 26, 2007 @ 3:52 pm
Haha, yeah i copied someone else’s lineup and when i made changes i forgot to change lampards team.
Comment by chalky — April 26, 2007 @ 6:00 pm
Do you know something we don’t know Chalky? Bit of insight into where franks going?
Comment by 1878 — April 27, 2007 @ 11:01 pm
Personally I’m not sure how Berbatov gets into team of the year. I agree he is a brilliant player and has had a good season, but personally I’d put McCarthy up front alongside Drogba.
My Team:
Keeper: Foster (Should be England No.1)
Defence: Terry, Woodgate, Bridge, G. Neville
Mid: Gerrard, Bentley, Ronaldo, Giggs
Strikers: McCarty, Drogba
Subs: Carson, Ferdinand, Vidic, Gamst, Carrick, Berbatov,
