  1. Personal opinion only but after watching the show a couple of times does anyone think maybe we should shorten it and only show REAL highlights such as good bits of skill and good shots at goals? I have noticed that compared to the other states we have a lot of footage of things such as air swings, shots missing by 10 metres and bad tackles…. surely this is only bad promotion!! i have had many a comment from other states having a few cheap shots already.. congratulations to the guys putting it together and they are doing a wonderful job and it is great to see tassie getting some promotion at long last but i really think we should try and only provide quality highlights and if that means a shorter show so be it!!

  2. Corey, The segements would be very short if you only showed the REAL highlights…sadly (and I am sure Brett Pullen and others who have been around a while can confirm) the standard of our game
in Tasmania has dropped markedly in the past 20 years.

While I Have seen less than a handful of PL matches myself ..I was recently standing near a past great player who was watching a PL game ..When will the seniors start he asked his friend…The guy then explained.. we are half way through the senior …. the elderly gent said Oh dear.

Personally I reckon the guys putting the show together are already putting the best of the best together and I enjoy the highlights.

  3. Corey…i have taken note on your comments in relation to the length and show format . I feel that i need to explain to you and everyone how this show format came about.
Martin Shaw , Walter pless and Mr Video got together and viewed the football show and found that we could do a better layout of the show..
Western Australia & South Australia footage is given to Ross Alastas the host of the show in Melbourne as raw footage , it is cut up and edited , ladders are done voice overs in Melbourne. Victoria does it own filming and editing. NSW gets it footage from stars of tomorrow (sbs ) and if you watch closely most of the times they repeat the same progamme.
This leaves Tasmania , we produce , film & edite , voice overs all in Tasmania , Aurora have given us freedom to provide more footage for their show , as they have stated to me and to FFT , it is the most compresive and well producd segment compared to the other States.
I feel that we all should be proud to have been given so much air time on television for the promotion of Tasmanian premier league soccer .
In relation to the format of the show I believe that we have the correct approach, and in tonights episode we have a slight change in the format of the show. In editing a game there needs to be balance, incidents, goals, good plays, in other words, an overview of the game. To give you an example of how long it takes to do one game, friday night game I leave home at 7pm, film the game and come home and edit a 3 minute package until 1am. Then on saturday the amount of time is repeated, so for two games, I have spent 12 hours. Justin spends time putting in ladders, results and does end highlight clips which takes another 8-10 hours, including voice overs. As you can see it, it takes time and when I need to go up north, you can add another 6 hours of travelling time. I must point out that positive criticism is always taken onboard, as this show ultimately represents Tasmanian football, and should be enjoyed by everyone who sees the show .
Ask yourself, why other states show only 3-5 minutes on average, but Tasmania gets on average 17-20 minutes.

  4. Stefano, I just want to reassure you the comments here are by no means derogatory toward your efforts and those of Justin, Walter and others involved. It really is a case of expectation versus reality. I also firmly believe there will be a settling in period where people will get used to formats etc.

There are FAR more positives coming out of this exposure than a full hour show of air swings, bad tackles, and horrendous misses could provide and let’s face it, if we don’t want to see these things we have two choices; a) don’t watch the show, or more positively, b) keep applying ones self to increase the skill level so ‘bloopers’ don’t occur as often.
