Who excels? - those that put in the work, show the dedication and get the support they need when they do. I sort of got the impression that was what Bennett was saying. He hasn't really noticed any difference in the kids themselves...they are still prepared and willing to achieve if they are given the chance; and the boundaries and requirements are explained to them.

It would appear from the article, and gets no contradiction from me, that you set a standard and invite and assist them to attain it. Unfortunately, in almost every avenue of life but especially it appears in education, we set a minimum standard that just about everyone can attain and then compliment them when they attain it. No one is allowed to fail it appears, but this of course means that no one really succeeds either.

and who excels?? BJ

Good article and there is no doubt that Generation Y is somewhat of a buzz word in business' and the community in general at the moment, how do we deal with them and support them through our business or sporting team environment in this case.

An interesting read and pretty much right on the money.

If we look at past failures with the socceroos it was often because the coach was too close to the players.

Guss changed that and we went oh so close..Graham Arnold like those before him appears from the outside to listen more to how the players say we should play and we have seen the result.

Closer to home I can think of a few PL teams that have seen better days would a lack of good behaviour, punctuality and respect have anything to do with this?? Just maybe.
