Grella dummy spit
Going by this spray Vinnie Grella can’t take the heat in the Thailand kitchen.
Vinnie Grella on the receiving end again
Vinnie has virtually given our direct opponents in the Asia Cup a right royal bollicking if not the entire Asian Confederation following his send off in the quarter final against Japan.
Sounds like spilt milk to me. What do others think?
I agree with pretty much everything he has said there, we just need to learn from it and if they play dirty next time we’ll have to do the same, the Omanis in the first game were down right disgraceful. I’m a firm believer that if you go down and require the stretcher u shouldn’t be allowed to come on for 5-10 mins, this would stop all this play acting as people wouldnt stay down unless they were seriously injured in which case they would be subbed anyway. FIFA need to stamp it out as its a blight on our great game.!

Spot on D train, it’s painful to watch the games with it going on.

Grella is spot on with his comments. It looked like he struggled in the heat and wasn’t helped by officials calling plenty of soft fouls. Some of the behaviour of Asian players and officials was appalling and definitely not in the spirit of the game. It would have been an even better outburst if he had a go at Arnie as well!

Remember Uruguay? I don’t think some of the stuff Grella mentions is that unusual (EVEN THOUGH I AGREE THAT IT’S NOT IN THE SPRIT OF THE GAME ETC) and I think Australian Teams are going to have to get used to it. We are going to continue to be one of the favourites and teams will do whatever they can to beat us. Part of their strategy will be to unsettle the players by getting under their skin, which going by Grella’s comments, worked to perfection as far as our opposition would be concerned. Remember Uruguay, they played mind games in both the world cup qualifiers and the second time around, we were strong enough to get through it. I’m sure the Socceroos will have learnt from this experience and next time will have devised tactics to counteract whatever the opposition can throw at us. Maybe they can employ Warnie as a consultant on how to handle sledgers LOL

Sorry guys got to go against the support Viney thread.
Smacks of a poor loser for mine. We just werent up to it in Asia obviously under prepared and performed accordingly.Yes it is hot and humid in Asia but as professional players the socceroos needed to adapt and they didnt.
As for Asian countries and referees respecting us why should they..One good world cup showing doesnt make you better the rest.
Time to get over the Germany hangover or we wont be in South Africa.

my dig is more at the play acting - agreed we didn’t cut the mustard in Asia, but if nothing is done about the continuous play acting and diving people are going to switch off big time - time to make a stand against the dirty divers!

I suppose all you can do is book the players who dive.. Mind you I didnt go much on the cards we copped for diving particularly in the Japan match..Biggest problem with diving is its impossible to tell who is and who isnt..Wouldn’t be a referee for quids players colliding at high speed both chasing the ball who dived and who was fouled only the person with the remote control and 5 camera angles can tell…But please dont go down that path..NRL did and they still get the calls wrong.
