Nektar of the Gods - exclusive to ABC Radio

Filed under: Football, Other Links — Blackjack @ 12:06 pm

It seems as though our “Voice like Nektar” will hit the radio waves tomorrow (Thursday) morning on ABC Radio.

I am of course referring to Nektar Vavoulas who has been selected as the voice of Tasmanian Football for Andy Muirhead’s breakfast programme on Hobart’s 936AM ABC Radio.

Nektar impressed enough during his auditions held over the past two weeks, and was selected from a fairly formidable lineup of voices, a veritable who’s who of Tasmanian football. I’m not going to name names but let me say, I was really impressed there were so many people interested enough in the game to actually go through the nerve wracking process. And just to add a bit of spice to the pot, the auditions included your truly!!!  (how good is the memory?)  :-)

Congratulations to Nektar and you can hear the lad in his first report tomorrow morning around 7.35am. Nektar you have our best wishes and I am sure you will do the game proud.

Feel free to offer Nektar your best wishes and also to provide feedback on his broadcast in the comments section.

  3. Well first off, congrats Nektar. Let the ad-libs begin! :)

But I must say I’m a bit disappointed with ABC, asking me to audition for a job which they could not provide a proper description for. They couldn’t give me any further info when they called me for an audition. Would have been nice to know the little details.

That was the whole idea Stefanowicz, to make the role your own. To mould and shape it and develop it according to listeners feedback, etc. It’s called, thinking (and broadcasting) outside the square. As you say, ad-lib. It was never going to suit someone who had to read from a script and who’s sense of ‘pezaz’ was giving scores and reading upcoming fixtures. You make it sound as though ABC approached you to audition rather than applying like the rest of us plebs. :-) BJ

  7. So no one listened to Nektar or no one is prepared to say if it went well or not we’d all just rather ‘gossip’ about who BJ is…sometimes I really wonder about people who are involved in the game here.
