2007 George Dale Medal Winner

Filed under: Football — Blackjack @ 6:48 am

The 2007 George Dale Medal will be presented at the North’s salubrious annual presentation awards night to be held at Launceston’s Grand Chancellor Hotel on Saturday night (22nd September). The dinner will follow the return North v South fixture in the afternoon.

Who are the hot favourites for the North’s most prestigious award and who’ll be the dark horse or bolter from the pack?

Could it be leading goalscorer Bobby Eaves from Somerset or maybe one of the Sharks many other talents or will this squad actually takes points from each other and allow another to sneak in under the radar?

Maybe Burnie’s Ben Crosswell or Jeremy de Bomford?

Could Rangers have a chance with their best & fairest TT Kakadumane?

Opinion?

  1. TT would probably be a real chance except he got a red card against Burnie so he is out of the running,

Hard to go past Bobbie Eaves for me, cant think of another player that is likely to pole more votes

  2. Crossa a good chance, plays the sort of game that demands attention and refs would notice him on the ball a lot. Jezza has missed half the season so not much chance for him, would have probably been a different story had he not got injured, should poll well early. Kaimon Johnson won our player of the year may go well.
From the games we plyed against Somerset I wouldn’t think Bobby would win it but goals always attract votes. I would think the Considines, Todd and Toby will also poll a lot of Somersets votes. What about Oesterloo? Even though not up to normal standards this year what about Des Shipper?

  3. Devonport climbed the ladder heaps this year, and in my opinion, there were only two reasons, Tommy motivated the team as coach, but SNOWY returned, arguably the best player in the last 10 years in the north, even in his twilight years, he still dominates games, and along with McKenna, they might gather a few votes. I agree with others, the Sharks players will take votes from each other, and Crossa has to be a chance, he is all class. Rangers Poolley maybe is an outside chance, or Launcestons Greg Duffy, the most improved played in the top end of the state.

  4. Des no chance, had a far below parr year by his standards, only other hope at Ranger land is perhaps Roh or Marsh Pooley but none of my money would go on them.

  5. Nice site here BJ, wish i’d known about it earlier in the year! From what i’ve seen could be anyone’s medal. With the top 3 sides all North West you’d expect a winner from there…(This may all seem familiar) From what i can gather on here Wells (Somerset B&F) or Johnson (Burnie B&F) should go close. Hingston or B Eaves from Somerset but too many and will pinch votes from each other. Croswell or de Bomford from Burnie. McKenna, Snowy Compagne from Devonport but both have missed a number of games..Who won their B&F? He’d be a good chance. From the rest.. TT (Will poll the most), Schipper, Pooley, Oosterloo, Miers seems to always poll well, Beechy, Brownlie? (Don’t underestimate the City boys), Baker stands out at Knights. Ulvie, Launny no hope (sorry those boys). Good luck to all though.

  6. Very hard for a young player to get ref’s votes (although Chris Sanita did in the south) The more games you have played help as i think you are more recognisable . Roger Mies has scored regulary this year and would of stood out in City’s team this year.
Somersets B&F Keegan Wells,Todd Hingston and Toby Skene wer’nt invited to the count so i can’t see anyone from the Sharks winning.Too many players taking votes off each other.
