  2. Uncle T,
Yes, I believe Melanie played for somerset in previous seasons. She missed most of the first half of the season injured which makes her winning B&F even more impressive.

Her husband also won the “Ex-Pats award” [a yard glass, filled on the night] for best social member of the club.

Hopefully they’ve enjoyed being part of DOSA as much as we’ve enjoyed them being at the club. Our womens team have already appointed Malcolm Payne as coach and should be the big improvers in 2008. We expect Mel to be a big part of that.

  3. Hi Trevor,
Yes I am the same Mel that you used to coach! There couldn’t possibly be 2 of me. Next year you will have to look out for Mel Chilcott though, I have changed my name. Good to hear that the sharks have not forgotten me.

  4. Panthers, is this the same Malcolm who used to be involved with Tilford Zebras? Will Michael Thain be taking up a different role at DOSA if he is not the women’s coach?

I believe DOSA’s Malcolm Payne has only moved to Australia from Barbados within the last 2 years, so possibly not the same one?

All at DOSA would love Micky Thain (the silver fox) to have a role at the club but his daughters sporting interests are now on at times that clash with coaching. He has said he will not have time outside of work, refereeing and family commitments for any other role, which we understand fully. Bearing in mind his past record of selfless dedication to the club though, I would not be surprised if he had some role in making our 20th ANNIVERSARY SEASON in 2008 a good one.

Good luck to Micky T, Gobbey & everyone else going to the masters tournament too by the way. The increase in Boags stock value on the ASX means training must be going well! :)
